Field Selection
1) Choose a field with well drained soil and good water holding capacity.
2) A field that has good soil uniformity is the best.
3) If you are growing beans and you intend to direct harvest, avoid rocky fields.
4) Soil test to determine fertility needs, soil pH, and soluble salt levels.
5) Avoid soils that are high in soluble salts or have areas of high alkalinity.
6) Fields with a lot of top trash warm up slower and could hinder emergence.
7) Previous applied chemicals could carry-over and interfere with the dry beans growth. Check the chemical labels to make sure the proceeding herbicides match your crop rotation
